When technology changes, we always seem to end up with new terms to deal with and Affiliate Marketing is just such a term. Basically, it is an Internet term that represents a business reward from affiliates that you insert into your site, blog, etc. so that each time a customer or visitor clicks on their ad, you will receive X amount of money.

In more of a layman’s description, it is the act of using one site to move the reader to yet another site. For more details www.ad-tracking-pro.com Affiliate marketing may make use of the following: e-mail marketing, search engine marketing, search engine optimization and at times even display advertising. While e-mail, search engines and website syndication grabs the majority of online attention, affiliate marketing can be utilized in a less obvious manner.

There are different formats for utilizing affiliate marketing such as Web feeds, which are sites such as news sites that update regularly. Then there are blog entries, various news headlines, and use of audio and possibly video. This is referred to as RSS (Really Simple Syndication) feeds. RSS is rumored to be the invention of Netscape programmers.

Websites that sell music are the majority of “click through” purchasing and order fulfillment. Amazon.com is the best example of the use of that technology. Surely you remember the ubiquitous text linked portions of Amazon.com that you, as a visitor, could click on and be instantly transported to a “related” book or subject matter in seconds?

Affiliate marketing can make some serious money. According to a 2006 United Kingdom report, the astounding sum of affiliate network sales in the UK was 1.6 billion pounds!

The three Internet sectors that currently show the most activity are gambling, adult and retail industries. It is thought that the greatest future growth will be in those areas dealing with the telecommunications, travel and finance sectors.

Revenue sharing is the most common form of recompense for those who utilize affiliate marketing in their blogs. Deceitful computer experts have unfortunately also created vehicles that are committing fraudulent associate marketing, so that a “cost per click” is not necessarily the proof that it was that a visitor had indeed “clicked through” to the advertiser. In order to allow advertisers additional income, there are new programs that offer multi-tier hierarchical means of paying a distributed referral network. For more details www.affiliate-manager-pro.com This is not the only way commissions are disbursed in a wider association, but sometimes the association moves this way: Product “A” leads to Product “B,” and finally Product “C” will be sold because of the association of the products. This puts a new spin on what is known as multi-level marketing!

The best reason for using affiliate marketing is that the “seller” does not owe a commission to the user of the advertising (i.e. the blogger) until the “buyer” demonstrates a true interest in the seller’s product by clicking on the ad.

Wikipedia says that affiliate marketing is a web-based marketing practice in which a business rewards one or more affiliates for each visitor or customer brought about by the affiliate’s marketing efforts. It was invented in the early days of the adult pornography industry where adult sites would pay people to refer others to watch videos. It wasn’t until 1994 when the first non-adult site (CDNow) developed a “BuyWeb” program, which was the first “click-through” affiliate marketing service.

With the advent of blogging, social media sites, and e-commerce, affiliate marketing has grown exponentially. According to research from 2006, affiliates worldwide earned a total of $6.5 billion in commissions from a variety of different types of sources (online gambling sites, online stores, and even educational sites). With the anonymity of the internet world, the idea of affiliate marketing is one that simply just makes sense and is going to continue growing for a long time.

With so many different types of websites and advertising going on, it’s getting to the point where it’s hard to even determine what is and what isn’t affiliate marketing. Amazon.com bar far wasn’t the first to offer an affiliate program, but in 2000, Amazon filed for a patent on the entire affiliate marketing process. A major impact in recent years has been web 2.0. New developments have made it harder for small websites to become known and to make money very efficiently through affiliate marketing.

Then again, web 2.0 has also been able to help many affiliate sites. One example of this was when a website started giving away free iPods after applying for one of the sites offerings and getting a set amount of their friends to do the same. People, not believing it to be true, started believing when people actually started received their iPods in the mail. What made it a success was the blogosphere. People were amazed that they were able to get an iPod for “free” and so they blogged about it and the internet buzzed with the new trend. It became so popular, even television news stations picked it up.

Now, there are so many fake affiliate sites, that it’s hard to determine what’s real and what isn’t. But there are still some that are guaranteed to work. Advertising has turned into a complex system, and can sometimes be considered affiliate marketing. CPM, CPC, CPA, CPS. Whenever people browse the internet, they’re in constant access to ads. This is now the major way a lot of sites make money. Businesses pay other websites based on their traffic and how many clicks their ads usually get. Google Adwords and Yahoo! Marketing are two major examples.

So all in all, affiliate marketing has many pros and cons. In future years, it will probably eventually become so obscure that no one will be able to tell what exactly is considered affiliate marketing anymore, but a new way of making money will always get old.

In the internet world, instead of two companies merging, they form a joint venture. The Commonwealth Alliance Program (CAP), businesses reported that strategic alliances (Joint Ventures) accounted for 25% of all revenues in 2005, $40 trillion dollars. “This figure has been steadily growing over the past years as more solopreneurs and Work At Home Parents (WAHPs) decide to unite to augment their revenue in the highly competitive global environment.” Joint Venture A Joint Venture is defined differently by various online business communities. A small business owner can engage in a Joint venture to build their opt-in list, increase profits, increase hits, and expand exposure. An example is a venture where a content rich, 10 000 page pet web site affiliating for a company selling products to pet owners. The content rich site ranks high, is optimized, is listed on thousands of search engines, and has its own list of repeat users. All they need is a product to sell. Good Joint Ventures have created fortunes. They bring together products and services, media, and resources to reduce the time needed to promote and market a product or service. There are four players in the JV world, each must work with the others, each is of equal importance. The Customer List It can take a long time to find a list owner who will sell a new product. Most list owners sell products that offer a proven value for their members. The product owner cannot join commission junction and hope they will make millions. The product owner need to find lists with a narrow niche that really needs their product. This can be hard, as many list owners mistakenly try to be everything to everyone. This increases their audience but reduces. These list owners often brag about their hits and their newsletter mailing list size. Instead, they should be talking about ROI, return on investment, click through vs buy rates, and demographics. A product can be a home training course, a book, or even a POD cast coaching seminar series. It does not need to be something someone would The Product There are millions of products available on the web. Some are fantastic, unfortunately, they will never make their creator rich because they are difficult to market. No list owner wants another e-book or e-course, unless it will guarantee success. No list owner wants a product from a company so small that they may provide poor customer service, or go out of business. This reflects badly on the niche list and community. This is why many small business owners work with click bank, commission junction, Pro Stores, and other sites that offer credibility as well as affiliate marketing. WHY IT WORKS One of the most profitable Joint Ventures is seen in the blogging sphere. The blogger owns 20 blogs which receive thousands of hits a month. They ping daily, write free articles to build inbound links, and build subscriber lists. They use Google or affiliate codes to generate income, and help sell products. The main reason why more people are not earning a profit from Joint Ventures is fear. Small business owners think ‘scam’ when someone talks about Joint Ventures. JVs are not a get rich quick scheme. It takes time and work to make $1000 a week. The list owner can send people to the product owner’s web site, but unless there is something to do, or samples, and forums, and ‘contact us’ features, the visitor will probably leave. It is a symbiotic relationship, but no one part can sit back and rake in money without investing time and effort into improving their conversion rates. The list owner and the product owner both work to convert visitors into buyers. The beauty of a Joint Venture is that you do not need to sign away ownership of your business. Everyone is watching The Dragons on television. This group of successful millionaires buys into inventor’s schemes, taking up to 100% ownership of the patens. Joint ventures are different. The Joint Venture is not a merger. It is a relationship between two business entities that will use each other’s strengths improve profits.

There are thousands of affiliate business programs on the internet today that offer wonderfully lucrative opportunities. The majority of business opportunities require zero overhead and once set up, will generate income with little or no maintenance on your part. Affiliate Businesses makes income thru affiliate programs that are simple in concept and work much the same way that word of mouth advertising does. Basically, when you refer a customer through your web site, you are recommending that product or service to your clients. If they sign up or purchase that product or service, you get paid a referral fee or commission. It is that simple. Using affiliate business programs are a fantastic way to get your name out there as well. It is also considerably less expensive and less time consuming than some traditional advertising. Offering your own affiliate business opportunity program to your existing customers and clients can increase your revenue. Paying a referral fee to an already happy customer will generate leads for you. Most affiliate business programs require you to be a member or subscriber to their site. This type of registration is usually free to you. Affiliates often will offer free newsletters or information to their subscribing members that may help you in the process of referring people to them. Free programmed links and free email tags are often offered to help with your affiliate business as well. Adding a link to your existing site to another web site is easy and often a matter of simple copy and paste. Almost all emails have signature lines and a link can be added here as well. Everyone who sees your web site or email will see the link and this increases your ability to earn referrals. Conversely, if you were offering a referral program, this same system will get your name out there to people you ordinarily would not be able to contact. These are affiliate associate program companies that have dozens to hundreds of different affiliate programs to choose from. The advantage to getting affiliated thru these companies is that you are paid one check (usually monthly) for all the companies you are affiliated with. If you sign up for affiliate merchant programs that are not using a backend provider (the name for these affiliate program companies) you will get a check from each one individually. Another adavantage is you can choose from hundreds of affiliate business programs without searching all over the net. They are all listed in one place. You can check out the most popular backend providers below. If you have a successful product or service, offering a referral or affiliate associate program is one of the best advertisements online. Not only are you assured your customers are happy with your services and products, otherwise why would they refer you, but you are getting leads straight from these satisfied customers. Positive feedback of this kind is worth its weight in gold. What if you are the happy customer? Referring people to a place where you have received good value and good customer service is easy. If you are looking to make money by becoming an affiliate, it is as easy as finding out if the places you already go on the internet have affiliate programs. Odds are, they do. You are also not limited to how many affiliations you can have. A few referrals a month can add up to substantial revenue for you in no time. Some businesses that have built their clientele on affiliate associate programs of this kind are Amazon.com and Paypal. These businesses all started small and relied on consistent word of mouth advertising and affiliate programs. One key to their monumental and international success is great customer services coupled with great affiliate programs. For example, say you recommend a book on sales to your consulting clients. Providing a link to that book to the Amazon.com web site will help your clients not only receive the information you find helpful to them, but you will receive a commission on every book that is sold through your site. Do you offer a product or service to other businesses? Paypal has a great affiliate program for business referrals. As you can see, affiliate programs allow you to offer your clientele additional services. This can help your overall customer satisfaction and will help you build your own business as well. Offering your own affiliate program can increase not only your revenue, but your services as well.

What is Affiliate Marketing? Why is the internet a buzz about Affiliate Marketing? And why to dot com millionaires always seemed to be involved in some sort of Affiliate Marketing? If you plan to build an internet business or internet empire without a doubt affiliate marketing is something you need to become involved with. So let’s answer the first question, What is Affiliate Marketing? Affiliate Marketing is selling on behalf of someone else in return for a percentage of the sale. You stock no product, don’t need to package or handle, nor do you have the normal business overheads. What you do need with Affiliate Marketing is web presence. The internet is now so huge – 8 Billion pages and growing – that the chance of someone stumbling on your site is low to nil without doing some tricks of the trade. (see my article or website on generate traffic and create hits) for further on that topic. The simple fact of the matter is you will not get sales if you don’t get traffic. Think of it this way – an affiliate product is sold by advertising, therefore what will generate more sales? One ad or thousands of ads? That’s pretty easy, the more ads, the more traffic, the greater the number of sales. Understand that the conversion rate on the internet is low. A conversion rate is the number of views before a potential sale. Normally this hovers around 1%. It tends not to matter what you are selling this rate tends to remain the same, your offer could be the very best on the net but still the conversion rate tends to be 1% – or one in hundred visitors will buy and make you money. Anyone with a conversion rate of 3% would be considered to be doing amazingly well and most people can not achieve this kind of result. Compare this with the conversion rate of people visiting the local shopping center, apart those teenagers who just love to ‘hang’, most people going to the shops buy at least something. Obviously the internet is a different kind of market. People are in the comfort of their own homes. The psychology of the sale is very different. Whereas people going to the shops are buying necessities like the weekly groceries, online people are tending to buy luxuries. The spur of the moment sale is less demanding as well, because people can bookmark and know they can come back later – they can delay the purchase decision with no fear of losing their chance to purchase. Some internet marketers have tried to overcome this by saying only 50 left, only 33 left, etc, having a count down. But as they tend to be selling information packages and not hard products people still to not have the need to impulse buy. Whereas at the shop they are aware the stock is limited and may be sold out next week so the buy now mentality rules, hence why we continue to have increasing credit card debt. However just because the impulse buy is not the overriding feature on the internet does not mean sales to not occur. They do, and do so on a regular basis. In fact just about anything and everything is sold via the net. Companies already on tight advertising budgets realize you can not dominate the net like you can television or radio advertising. You might have sole sponsorship rights to a particular sports team or sports star i.e. Nike with Tiger Woods, but you can’t dominate eight billion individual pages. So the smart companies decide that the cheapest way to increase there internet present is to appeal to the millions of internet webmasters, etc. How? By giving them a slice of the action, from about 5-10% for sales of traditional items e.g. flowers, hotel stays, etc up to 75% for informational products or services. Whilst one affiliate ad on one site may not generate a huge income, 1000 ads on 1000 sites can generate a small fortune. Although this sort of internet presence takes time to set up, once accomplished they keep on selling day after day with no further input from you necessary. So if you have no affiliate partnerships get moving and get some now. If you have sites, maximize their income potential by adding affiliate banners and links. The most popular providers of affiliate links are clixGalore, clickbank and Commission Junction. My favorite is clixGalore due to their easy to use interface and there provision of traditional product lines and worldwide coverage in most currencies if clixGalore and I strongly suggest you join them. I also like clickbank and their advantage is that they affiliate programs tend to have a higher payout percentage. Commission Junction is my least favorite because many of its programs are very selective about who they have as affiliate partners.

This question could be extended by “or any Internet Marketers”. The answer to that question was widely believed to be “Yes”. The Misconception People tend to think of an Affiliate as a tech savvy geek that spends day and night to find ways to promote a big merchant and make big bucks via the commission earned for the sales made by the referred customers; a person that is very protective about everything he does, that generates at least a few sales or leads. You probably also thought of the people that run the Affiliate Program for a Merchant, who are called Affiliate Managers or short AM’s, are snobby suits that try to use the legions of their affiliates to generate easy money for their employers. Socializing would almost be unthinkable if this is true. Who is going to socialize with his maid? Right? This picture of affiliates and their counterpart on the merchant side seems to be a misconception that might be true only in some rare cases. It did not took very long after affiliate programs became more and more popular that Affiliate Forums emerged, especially when Amazon.com launched their Affiliate Program (Amazon called it Associate Program) in 1996 which allowed instant signup and approval for anybody and his uncle in combination with the growing trend of creating personal home pages on free holsters like Geo Cities. Early Communities, Forums Forums like the AssociatePrograms.com Forum, RevBoard, ABestWeb, Affiliate Boards and Affiliate Marketing Forum at WebProWorld were frequented by affiliates using nick names or just the first name to exchange general information about programs, commissions and that sort of things. Posting of Affiliate Site URL’s was a “don’t do it” rule although most forums did not specifically prohibited the posting of links, if related to the discussed topic. Some had the rule not to post somebody else’s Affiliate URL. The fear for copy cats and the potential loss of hard earned commissions was wide spread and sometimes also well founded. Anything that was giving hints to the identity of the affiliate and it’s website was avoided by most members in the public forum areas. That affiliates are social could already be seen in the “off topic” or “midnight chat” sections of the Affiliate Marketing Forums, if such a category was available. Towards the end of last year sites started to emerge that supported and even encouraged social mingling between affiliates and also affiliate managers and networks. The New Trend, Social Netwoks for Internet Marketers, social community sites following the trend of general social sites like MySpace.com, but created solely for People in the Internet Marketing Industry. If it would be correct, that the people in that industry, especially the affiliates, are not social, sites would vanish quickly because of lack of users to support it. Of course is a lot of the communication related to internet marketing, but the communication goes far beyond that. Personal Information and thoughts are shared in public message boards, special interest groups, blogs and mail. Every member has also his own blog, message board, book mark collection and can create freely new groups for others to join. Members that disguise their origin and blog their personal pages are the exception. Examples for Internet or Affiliate Marketing Community sites are the Affiliate Summit Social Network, created for the attendees of the Affiliate Summit Conference, the Ad-Tech Connect Social Network and ReturnOnAffiliate.com. Fazit I am convinced, that this trend will continue in the years to come and have a major impact on the affiliate marketing industry. Connecting through social networks allows marketers to get to know each other much better and help with the creation of new professional and personal relationships. Problems between merchants and affiliates will probably solved much quicker and easier without escalating as much as they used to in the past, because instead of Affiliate xxx having a problem with by, John has a problem with the Merchant Jane is working for. If you ask yourself the question, who would you rather do business with, the one you don’t know or the one you can associate a face with and know personally through interactions on community sites? If the business reasons are not overwhelmingly leaning towards one of them, I would go with the one I know personally. Business is much easier and enjoyable if you do it with a “him” or “her” and not an “it”. See you soon at an Internet Marketing Community Site.

In the internet world, instead of two companies merging, they form a joint venture. The Commonwealth Alliance Program (CAP), businesses reported that strategic alliances (Joint Ventures) accounted for 25% of all revenues in 2005, $40 trillion dollars. This figure has been steadily growing over the past years as more solopreneurs and Work At Home Parents (WAHPs) decide to unite to augment their revenue in the highly competitive global environment. Joint Venture A Joint Venture is defined differently by various online business communities. A small business owner can engage in a Joint venture to build their opt-in list, increase profits, increase hits, and expand exposure. An example is a venture where a content rich, 10 000 page pet web site affiliating for a company selling products to pet owners or go on www.jointwebventures.com. The content rich site ranks high, is optimized, is listed on thousands of search engines, and has its own list of repeat users. All they need is a product to sell. They bring together products and services, media, and resources to reduce the time needed to promote and market a product or service. There are four players in the JV world, each must work with the others, and each is of equal importance. Instead, they should be talking about ROI, return on investment, click through vs. buy rates, and demographics. A product can be a home training course, a book, or even a PODcast coaching seminar series. It does not need to be something someone would The Product There are millions of products available on the web. Some are fantastic, unfortunately, they will never make their creator rich because they are difficult to market. No list owner wants another ebook or e-course, unless it will guarantee success. The blogger owns 20 blogs which receive thousands of hits a month or visit www.joint-venture-softwares.com, they ping daily, write free articles to build inbound links, and build subscriber lists. They use Google or affiliate codes to generate income, and help sell products. The main reason why more people are not earning a profit from Joint Ventures is fear. Small business owners think scam when someone talks about Joint Ventures. JVs are not a get rich quick scheme. It takes time and work to make $1000 a week. The list owner can send people to the product owner’s web site, but unless there is something to do, or samples, and forums, and contact us features, the visitor will probably leave. This group of successful millionaires buys into inventor schemes, taking up to 100% ownership of the patens. Joint ventures are different. The Joint Venture is not a merger. It is relationships between two business entities that will use each other strengths improve profits.

If you are new to the Internet money making machine called Affiliate marketing then this article is for you. Affiliate marketing has evolved from the days when Amazon offered webmasters a pay-for-performance opportunity if they advertised and sold books supplied by Amazon on their websites.Today the products that produce large profits for Affiliate marketers are adult, gambling and retail industry. On the other hand, for more details visit to www.ppc-profit-marketer.com there is properly optimized websites drawing over $100,000 per month in Affiliate money through other avenues.Companies that will pay you a percentage of the sale of a product you advertised are known as “Publishers”. You (the advertiser/seller) are known as the “Affiliate”. Google Adsense is a form of marketing where you’re paid when someone clicks on an advertisement on your website (you get paid whether they buy or not). The difference between Affiliate marketing and Google Adsense is…Affiliate money is made on the sale and Google Adsense money is made on the click. In most cases Affiliate programs that pay per sale will generate higher profits in the short term. Websites or Affiliate Networks such as ClickBank, for more details visit to www.affiliate-windfall-secrets.com Commission Junction, Link share and others provide the advertising channels of Affiliate Marketing and will handle all financial transactions between Publishers and Affiliates. It is not always necessary to use a company like Click Bank or Commission Junction to find a network of Publishers but it does make good sense. Some online businesses prefer to handle the affiliate financial transactions themselves. For businesses offering products and services for sale to the public it also makes good business sense to develop a sustainable Marketing campaign that includes Affiliate marketing (but choose your affiliates wisely). Although it could be hard to track you want to make every effort to ensure your affiliates do not use spam tactics to market your product. Some Publishers offer bonuses to top performing Affiliates which fosters a more driven promotion campaign. There are people making 6+ figure annual incomes from this type of marketing. Do not think for a minute successful affiliate marketers have not put in the necessary research and development of their skills to get there. The most difficult part of marketing any product online is attracting leads and driving them through the purchasing cycle. The aforementioned entails a highly optimized website with content that shows the consumer why they should purchase said product.Affiliate Marketing is not a “get rich quick” business model. What it is, is a opportunity for the average individual that would like to work from home to do so and have more flexibility with their time. There are not many 9 – 5 jobs that offer the opportunities Affiliate Marketing does.Remember; if you’re an advertiser marketing affiliate products on your website, choose your affiliate programs wisely. Sometimes it isn’t as wise to select the most popular affiliate program as they could be over advertised (or saturated). You can find less popular affiliate programs in a similar market as those that are on every shelf so to speak. Doing your own review of your affiliate products is a good idea because it not only gives consumers some incite but it could also build your credibility. Please visit our website for this and more Internet home based business strategies and opportunities.

Affiliate programs are a powerful way to grow your small business. The basic premise behind the programs is to align your potential referral sources and other interested parties to increase your sales while compensating them for the marketing and referral efforts. There are various compensation models that can be utilized, but the most widely used ones are: pay per lead, pay per sale or pay per click. Which model works best for your business depends on the type of industry you are in and how much you are willing to spend to make it appealing to you and your affiliates. How should you go about utilizing the power of the affiliate programs? Read our Top Seven Ideas below and start harnessing new, but powerful small business marketing tool.
1. Create an appealing affiliate program with competitive compensation. Your main choices are to pay per lead, pay per sale or pay per click.
2. Use a third party provider to track your program and to increase its credibility. Some examples of the third party providers are AffiliateShop and Commission Junction. Affiliate Shop charges a monthly fee and helps you setup the program. They don’t charge commissions on your sales. Commission Junction presents your program to their large network of affiliates, but they take a cut of your sales.
3. Publish a press release announcing the launch of your affiliate program. Great places to post your release are PRWeb, PR, or Free-press-release.
4. Submit your program to affiliate search directories. Here are some of the examples: Affiliate Scout and Affiliate Guide.
5. Contact related website that might be interested in working with you on referring potential customers and see if they would be interested in joining your affiliate program.
6. Don’t forget offline marketing to potential affiliates. Depending on your business, there could be a multitude of potential referral sources: your customers, business referral sources, or business people interested in earning extra money.
7. Make sure that your affiliate program offers a two-tier compensation. In that case if your affiliate refers another affiliate to you, they would get compensation from the transaction submitted by the second-tier affiliate. This could be a powerful way to continue growing your network.
Now that you are armed with the top seven ideas on how to harness the power of the affiliate programs for your business, you are ready to use this great marketing tool.
